9 Things Your Website Needs to Convert to Sales

Everyone seeks immediate results in today's fast-paced world. We demand speedier food preparation and instant communication and frequently lose patience when a business website takes over five seconds to open…
Admit it - you’ve definitely hit that ‘refresh’ button a few times recently (or even closed out completely) because something was taking too long to load 😬 (We have too)!

The same is true for individuals wishing to boost their website sales. However, there aren't any shortcuts to any destination worth visiting.

It would be best if you sold to the clients on your website in a way that is similar to how you would sell to them in person, but we all know that’s not how it works - there are significant differences. The Internet has become less personal, and website visits may be more temporary. Your competitors are only a click away, and most potential clients will visit several websites. Consider website visitors as guests rather than as potential customers. Think about educating your guests on your website instead of trying to sell them something, and don't try to advertise to them.

Back here at Hello Media, we strive to build a systematic content strategy for business owners - but we’ve got to be honest about something…If your content strategy is a 10, and your website is a 2, we can’t help you. If you’re starting to notice your numbers increasing on social media and your website traffic growing, yet you have nothing (sales) to show for it, that’s a red flag! 🚩 🚩 🚩

In today’s blog post, we’re giving you nine suggestions that will help you increase those sales on your website!

How to Use YOUR Website to Convert to Sales

1. ATTRACT THE RIGHT AUDIENCE

One of the most significant ways to get more sales through your website is by attracting the right audience. For instance, if you sell school bags online, you shouldn't target people above the 'schooling age' but students. Targeting the right audience will help convert your website visits into more profits.

There are a few methods for doing that.

One is performing an SEO strategy audit. That will work perfectly well if search drives in most of your visitors. Verify whether you have focused on the wrong terms/keywords in the auditing process. But what do "wrong term/ keywords" actually mean? How would you describe them?

They can be described as follows:

THEY’RE UNRELATED TO YOUR WEBSITE

Let's take the scenario where you manage a cooking blog. However, phrases like "best jeans" pop up throughout your sites and URLs. That's the wrong term/keyword to be using repeatedly. It doesn’t mean you can’t ever talk about your favorite jeans, it’s just something to be mindful of.

Using general keywords is another issue. For instance, "shoes." The person who asks the question might be searching for information on sneakers, the best method for mending a damaged shoe, etc. Avoid using such terms.

KEYWORDS/TERMS LACKING BUYING CONTENT

Think about two different guests, A, and B. A searches for "Nike sneakers" and discovers a website for footwear. The only difference is that B uses "red Adidas footwear free shipping." Who is most likely to buy something? A or B? B, of course.

So, see whether your page is ranked for these terms/keywords and make the necessary corrections. To create sales copy that is fresh and powerful, you can use online rephrasing software. It paraphrases phrases and sentences without changing their real intent and gives you a persuasive sales copy in no time.

You may also draw in the correct kind of visitors by marketing your website on the appropriate social media network. For instance, LinkedIn is more likely to be where your potential customers hang out if you sell SaaS products rather than Instagram or Facebook. Although, it's a reverse situation if you have a clothing business.

2. CREATE EDUCATIONAL CONTENT (AND LESS PROMOTIONAL)

Creating compelling and non-promotional content is effective in not only driving traffic, but it'll also help to boost profit. People often appreciate things that give them solutions to their challenges. So, if they find your website to be educative and entertaining, they'll definitely come back for more.

The journey with customers doesn't end after directing them to that article. Until the deal is closed, it's critical to keep communicating with your customers at the appropriate time, with the proper message, and through the proper channel!

3. ENSURE USER EXPERIENCE IS 10/10

User experience can quite literally make or break your website conversion. Don’t overlook this. Your customers are going to be accustomed to a particular degree of service and convenience when buying stuff online.  They're more inclined to shop elsewhere if they have a bad experience using your site. The internet environment is fierce. If you don't provide a simple user experience for your business, your competitor will.

Check your page load speeds, pay attention to your page views and time on page numbers, use plenty of white space, and test it out on your family and friends!

4. LEVERAGE SOCIAL MEDIA

Enter Hello Media. 👋 Social media is most commonly used as a traffic driving source, did you know that? It’s one of the best ways to rapidly reach a big audience. Create a holistic content strategy that sends them to your website or online store. If your social media content isn’t aiming to get them OFF of social media, you’re probably doing it wrong…. 😏

Aside from linking your website in stories and on your profile, one of our favorite ways to increase website traffic from social media is by running targeting ads, especially if you have a big sale or promotion happening. Ads can assist you in connecting with a highly targeted audience that will make it easier to convert (as long as your user experience is a 10/10)!!

5. PROOF

Client testimonials, product reviews, and case studies will help your products and services sell itself! People want to know you’ve got proof of product or proof of a high quality experience. Convince people that they would truly be missing out by NOT working with you or buying your product.

6. HAVE A CALL TO ACTION (CTA) ON EVERY PAGE

I wish we had more to say for this, but it’s important to keep this simple, because there is SO MUCH DATA to support this. CTAs work. They just do. You need to tell your customer what to do, where to go, what to buy, etc. Do not let them figure it out on their own. Always assume they have no idea where to go on your website, and give them an easy-to-see button that sends them to the right place. A few CTA examples:

  • Shop the latest

  • Click here to get your free guide

  • View our services

  • Contact us today

  • Hire us

  • View our clearance

7. HAVE KILLER COPYWRITING

Good SEO and good website copy are not the same thing. Good website copy can create trust, provide value, and be the difference between making a sale and losing a prospect. You want to draw your customers in by having a conversation with them. This takes us to point #1, which is knowing your audience. 😉

Let’s say you’re an accountant. Your clients are not in finance-related industries. Filling your website copy with technical jargon that your customers aren’t familiar with only creates a larger divide between you and them. Instead, make your copy easy to understand and in terms that will strike a chord with your visitors.

8. MAKE YOUR WEBSITE MOBILE-FRIENDLY

JUST DO IT. You will not be sorry spending the extra time and/or money to make a mobile-friendly website. Hundreds of millions of users are looking at websites on their mobile phones. Have you checked your website data to see how many of your users are viewing via mobile? You may be shocked.

9. LET THEM KNOW HOW TO CONTACT YOU

Customers will like to know you and how they can reach you. Whether they just made a purchase and want to stay in touch, or they have an important question before investing, it’s important that they can reach you. Give consumers a way to communicate with you via a Google form, email, or phone number, which should include your opening and closing hours.

The most effective approach to accomplish it is to include a form where users can enter their contact details and a message for you. Ensure your address is visible and easy to find. Customers want confirmation that your business is reliable and won't vanish after they buy from you or take action on your website.

WRAPPING IT UP….

It takes several steps to warm up leads and earn their confidence, but consistently providing value will result in a greater conversion rate. Integrate free content, more insights, retargeting, and external traffic generation for the best results, but most importantly, don't over-promote your products. Give room for visitors to learn.

That’s where we come in. We help you build a content strategy that starts from the FIRST phase of your customer journey and ends with the last (that website conversion)! Contact us to start increasing your traffic to your website today!
