How to Increase Your Views on TikTok

Whether you are new to TikTok or you’ve been around for awhile and you’re finding it difficult to increase those views, know that it takes only a few tweaks, and you're good to go. TikTok is a trendy social media platform right now, and investing your time and money in it in any way possible is a good (and wise) thing to do.

After all, TikTok has the highest social engagement rate per post.

Surprised?

TikTok records far more engagement than YouTube or Instagram. This is proven by the fact that micro-influencers get engagement rates of 17.96% on TikTok and just 3.86% on Instagram. YouTube goes lower at just 1.63%.

Convinced? You should be. No one argues with stats anyways. And if you do, you shouldn’t. ;)

Views are the livewire of the TikTok app as they create a cumulative effect. In simpler words, the more views you get on a video, the higher the chances of it (your video) getting to bigger audiences.

However, it is much more vital to note that the TikTok algorithm uses the number of views a user has on a video to determine if and where your video needs to be posted or suggested. So, in this article, you will learn all about what you need to do to increase TikTok views along with a few helpful tips that have taken our clients from 0 to viral in no time.

What is a View on TikTok?

Before knowing how to increase your views on TikTok, it is essential to know what counts as a view.

Every social media platform has a different method for counting views, but on TikTok, it is pretty much straightforward. As long as your video is viewed for at least a second, it has been "viewed." However, this does not mean you can view your own video posts repeatedly to increase your views on TikTok, otherwise we’d all have our own videos up on our phones all day long, racking up the views and going viral with every post.

So, what can help you increase your views on TikTok? Here are some expert advice and suggestions:

#1 understand your customer

We feel like we’re screaming this advice (very loudly) from rooftops these days, but it’s shocking to discover how many brands know very little about their audience. If you don’t understand the wants, needs, struggles, and desires of your audience, how do you expect to gain their attention in a 30 second video? We all know that TikTok is popular in the world of Gen Z’ers, but that’s not the only crowd of people hanging out on that app.

Over 43% of users on TikTok are between the ages of 18 to 24, and if your customer falls within that age range - great! Start understanding them on a very deep level, so you can create content that resonates with them instantly. However, don’t forget about the rest of the 50% of users on TikTok.

We will say this. Most people on that app are currently looking for fun, innovative, and engaging content. They want it to feel effortless and they don’t want to feel like they’re being sold to everywhere they turn.

#2 Create high-quality videos

This is important for follower growth for just about any platform that supports video posts. Your content needs to exude quality, and high quality at that. The higher the quality of your videos, the greater your chance of people watching, enjoying, and reposting them.

Ensure your videos come out as quality in both sound and lighting and overall editing. These factors help increase user engagement on TikTok.

Also, TikTok seems to give priority to high-quality videos on the For You Page, which is where most people get what they watch, comment on, and repost. Ensure you give TikTok your best, and the TikTok algorithm will surely deliver your videos to the right people. Other factors that will help here are choosing to shoot your videos in portrait or landscape mode, adding sound or going without it, and adding effects. Using TikTok's trending effects can also boost your engagement.

Everyone claims that TikTok is for un-curated, “off-the-cuff” content - and while they are right, that certainly doesn’t mean low-quality, especially as a business trying to sell a product or service.

#3 Make your videos short

People on social media have a short attention span. If you cannot catch attention in the first five to seven seconds of your video, you might never catch it. And since one strong indicator of interest is watching videos to the end, you will have less time to catch attention. But what if your content was squeezed expertly into a shorter timeframe?

The most watched videos on TikTok have been very short, especially those that can be repeated on a loop smoothly. Hence, if you do not catch attention in the first three seconds, your chance might be gone. Forever (dun, dun dunnnn).

While having a three-minute video is not bad, you're good to go as long as you can catch and hold their attention for the entirety of the three minutes. However, it is generally recommended to keep your content short and quick.

#4 Drop your videos at the right time

It would be awfully silly to sell products on the side of the street in the dead of the night when many people are asleep. The same applies to TikTok; you need to know when your fans and followers are active on the app and target them with new videos.

One way to find this out is to check your account analytics to find out when your followers are most active. When you can get this, you will know when best to drop your video.

#5 Post more than once each day

Alright, are you ready for this controversial topic? Here’s the deal. In The TikTok world, time moves faster than in the real world. Once you post a video, you could be on the rise for a while…but that’s where it ends for most people. You need to follow up on that rise with more videos, probably multiple videos each day. In fact, the general recommendation for TikTok is to post between one to four videos each day.

There is no such thing as you posting too many videos on your TikTok, as long as you post quality, creative, and educative content. After all, the more videos you post, the higher your chances of finding them on more people's For You Pages, and the hungrier they will get for your creative content.

DON’T HEAR WHAT WE AREN’T SAYING….which is that you can’t find success if you only post 3x/week.

That’s not the case, at all. We’re just giving you the flat out truth of the TikTok algorithm. The more (high quality) content you post, the more people you will reach, and the views your videos will get. Don’t come for us. We sure as heck don’t post multiple times a day (because, hello? moms, business owners, lives, etc).

#6 Don't forget the caption

The TikTok caption feature is placed there for a reason, and you ought to benefit from it. It might be able to take just 150 characters, so think of it as the best 150 characters that will help you place the spotlight on each video. The reason for the caption is to have an opportunity to convince viewers and users that your video has enough buzz for them and that they should consume it to the end. How then do you know that you have hit them in the right spot? Through comments, of course!

Every TikToker wants people engaging their content, either by liking, reposting, or commenting on it. When users engage with the content and use the words found in the caption, TikTok knows what to do. Getting your captions right is the easiest way to pitch and portray your content in the best possible light.

#7 Ensure you add keywords in captions & VIDEOS

As with many other social media platforms, keywords are a big part of the search process. And there are three places you should incorporate these keywords.

  1. Captions

  2. Automated closed captions

  3. On-screen text

Our best advice for finding keywords is to start searching! Use the search bar within the TikTok app itself and start searching for a topic related to your industry. For example, if you’re in interior design industry, start typing relevant words and you’ll notice a few popular keywords come up. Use these ideas with your next content, and put these words within your caption and on-screen text.

#8 Do a Duet or collaborate

A duet or stitch is another way to catch attention and feed off its effects. This feature is a great way for increased engagement because it allows your brand to hop on existing trends for better exposure.

You can choose to sing along, give an instructional post, or make an opinion on someone else’s video. Any sound or video can get you this, but you have to make sure the relevance and creativity match.

#9 Hire someone to help
